This past Sunday, the choirs had to work at the Indiana State Fair for a fundraiser to raise money. We had to go to the school at 8:00 am and we weren’t scheduled to get back to the school until about 10:30 pm or later. At the beginning of the day, I felt like I wasn’t ready for what was ahead of me. I was going to be working as a cashier.
I didn’t understand anything about the register at first, even after the training. Also, my cash register was touch sensitive so that got really frustrating. It was hot and loud and I was so frazzled because there were going to be so many people in line. I got the hang of it after a while, but I still messed up quite a few times. I mean, what can I say? I’ve never worked at a place like this before…
There were a few people who seemed frustrated, but there weren’t that many people who complained, which is a really good thing.
I was able to sit on a stool, but it ended up hurting to sit down. And then when I stood up, it hurt to sit down. I was just a mess on Sunday. Nothing was comfortable. I also waited to eat lunch for a really long time. I almost passed out, but I turned out okay.
It was a very long day, but I survived and now I have some job experience under my belt. I better get that going.. yikes
